Spring and summer are the seasons to lose the heavy foundation and blusher and embrace a more natural look. It’s important to ensure that your skin is in top notch condition as you minimise the amount of makeup you are using.

Fortunately, there are plenty of tips, tricks and products to have you glowing on the inside and out.

Your first step to clear, bright skin is to make time once a week for an exfoliating treatment. However, regularly and thoroughly you may cleanse, pores become trapped with dirt and oil causing blackheads or blemishes.

Give your skin instant radiance with L’Occitane Brightening Instant Exfoliator, £25. The unique formulation of pure organic immortelle essential oil protects against free radicals for firmer skin and vegetal origin exfoliating powders purify and smooth for a flawless, luminous complexion. It has an incredibly beautiful fragrance and it instantly transforms my skin.

It’s important to focus your attention on preventative methods and I use a serum everyday which is great for boosting the complexion. Choose a serum rich in Coenzyme Q10, an ingredient that’s naturally found in our cells to provide energy for healthy cell growth. Try Age Proof CoQ10 Booster Serum by Trilogy, £25.10, which attacks fine lines as well as protecting from harmful free-radicals.

To give skin a plump, supple look make sure you drink plenty of water every day. It also helps to cut down on salty foods, as too much sodium will cause the skin under your eyes to look puffy. It’s essential to always remove your makeup at night to keep your pores clean and encourage a youthful glow in the morning. Did you know that your skin ages eight days for every night that you don’t remover your makeup? To achieve glowing skin I always make sure I eat and drink properly as feeding your skin from the inside will give your complexion a wonderful boost.

Try and pack in as many ‘super foods’ as possible throughout your day - just sprinkling a handful of dark skinned fruit such as blueberries on your cereal will make a real difference. Alternatively, mix up your own uber-fruity concoctions for breakfast with a smoothie maker.

To get perfectly glowing skin without the use of a heavy foundation, start by applying Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer, £19.50. This clever product glides on to skin, concealing your imperfections, leaving your complexion looking fresh and bright.

Next, spend some time concealing your blemishes, and any dark circles or redness using Clinique Airbrush Concealer, £16.50, to create an even, perfected skin tone.

Keep the overall look fresh and natural with a light-reflecting mineral-infused foundation from Lavera, £12.90. Lightly smooth the foundation over your cheeks, forehead, nose and chin. You do not need to cover every square centimetre of the face if you blend it well.

Finish the look with a gentle blush over the apples of the cheeks using pale peach or apricot tones on darker, more olive skin, or creamy rose tones for fairer skin. The Estee Lauder Estee Lauder 5-Tone Shimmer Powder comes in either bronze, peach shades or pinks to suit all suit tones.
