Working in the center of Covent Garden we young ladies about town are lucky to have a huge variety of food choices when it comes to lunch. Invariably though we just head for the nearest place, sticking usually to places on our very own Bedford street and Herietta Street.

So we were all rather excited to discover Caffè Nero's (which is directly opposite our office) new range of hot dishes for lunch time.

The launch comes in light of research they carried out revealing that despite nearly 40% of us feeling re-energised, a third of us feeling happier , a fifth more focused and 16% more motivated after a lunchbreak, nearly one in ten Brits (9.5%) never take a break at all, and 15% of us do lunch 'al desko'.

In a bid to lure us away from our desks their new range (which can be taken away or eaten in) includes Al Forno dishes: Penne Bolognese in a rich ragu and Chicken Pesto Al Forno with fresh pesto and a crisp breadcrumb topping, layered pots: Creamy Mushroom and Spinach Risotto with fresh leaves, Mediterranean Vegetable Arrabiata with basil and olive oil, and flatbreads: Chargrilled Vegetable or Sunblush Tomato, Pesto and Mozzarella flatbread topped with a creamy mozzarella.

On hearing about the new range it wasn't long before we found ourselves tucking into something delicious, served in a china bowl (if you sit in), making a nice change from eating out of a cardboard pot.

So far we fully appove of the risotto, penne bolognese, and the flatbreads. As for the other dishes, well by the end of next week I have no doubt we will have tried them all.

The new Caffè Nero hot food range is priced £3.50 - £5.25

There are more cafés in London than you can shake a teacup at, but few have the power to make people literally stop in their tracks.

L'ETO - with branches in Chelsea, Belgravia and Soho amongst others - does just this. Their array of delectable cakes have people practically licking the window in appreciation.

LETO-1

And it gets even better when you venture inside. As well as the cakes (all homemade), there are a selection of chocolate truffles, and healthy yet hearty salads for a that bit of savoury before you indulge in the sweet.

If you happen to be passing in the morning, it's worth trying their new breakfast menu. From avocado on toast to fluffy pancakes to quinoa porridge, there is something to cater to every fancy. Their freshly squeezed juices are delicious too.

LETO-3

Part patisserie, part chocolatier, part fresh and vibrant café, it has swifty become a firm favourite for us Young Ladies About Town. See you there for breakfast, a light lunch of afternoon tea (most likely all three)!

Make brunch that extra bit special with this recipe...

Croque Monsieur

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole egg
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, divided
  • 2 thick slices of bread
  • 2 teaspoons of mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard
  • 4 thin slices of ham
  • 2 slices of Gruyere cheese

Method

1. In a shallow dish that will be large enough to dip your sandwich in, whisk the egg with some salt and pepper.

2. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Spread the mayonnaise and mustard onto one slice of bread. On the other slice, layer the ham and cheese. Place the slices together to enclose the ingredients.

3. Carefully and quickly, dip each side in the beaten egg, and place in the hot buttered pan. Cook until golden brown on the bottom, then melt the remaining butter in the pan. Flip the sandwich, and cook until browned on the other side.
