Young ladies are more worried about how they look, than about their health, a survey has revealed.

The report, commissioned by Tesco and Cancer Research UK, revealed that 41 per cent of 18-24 year olds said they worried more about their appearance than their physical fitness, (and then confessed they didn’t do enough exercise).

Reasons given for their lack of exercise were mostly appearance-related with 16 per cent worrying about messing up their hair or make-up while working out, and another 10 per cent saying they were unhappy with unflattering workout gear.

Overall, almost 60 per cent of the women polled gave reasons that were appearance-related for their dislike of fitness.

New salon statistics from beauty site www.wahanda.com reveal who is getting what treatments - and where!

Day spas are more expensive in the North West (£96) than in London (£72) the North East (£36) or anywhere else on the east side of the country.

Londoners are hair obsessed! There are 5.16 hair salons per square mile, which are twice as expensive (average spend £75) than they are in the East, North East and South West of the country (average spend £40)

Cancer, despite affecting one in three people, is still a word that people flinch over.

You would have thought with its prevalence that we would be a little better equipped to deal with it socially, but we aren’t; in fact, we're terrible at it, and it’s this tight lipped attitude that actually creates more stress than necessary, not least of all in the spa industry.

Did you know, for example that if you have had treatment for cancer within the last two years you are not eligible for most massages because they stimulate the lymphatic system? Or that why you are having treatment you can’t use a swimming pool or jacuzzi for fear of getting an infection?
