Sixth of Women Don't Know their Natural Hair Colour

A new study looking into the hair care spending habits of women in the UK has revealed that 17% of women don't know how their hair looks in its natural state, as they've been colouring it for so long that they ‘can't remember’ its original appearance.

The study, conducted by www.vouchercloud.com, polled 1,342 women from around the UK as part of research into the impact of beauty treatments on personal finances.

It also revealed the average woman visits her hairdresser every 8.2 weeks, and spends £42.32. Only 12% claimed that they’d never had their hair coloured.

Of those who do colour their hair 62% said of woman said they still knew what their natural hair colour was, 21% of said that they were unsure, but 17% said that they genuinely didn't know what it was as they had been 'dying it for too long'.

Women across the UK spend an average of £4,888 on makeup that’s completely the wrong colour for their skin-tone in a lifetime, says new research - and foundation and blusher are the worst culprits.

On average women in the UK waste £76.38 purchasing makeup in the wrong tone or colour every year; adding up to £4,888 in a lifetime.

Just over 2,000 women were polled in the study conducted by www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk. 65% admitted to buying make-up that was the wrong shade, leaving them unable to wear it.

The top "wrong shade" makeup culprits were revealed as

1) Foundation- 55%
2) Blusher- 50%
3) Bronzer- 49%
4) Eye shadow- 33%
5) Lipstick- 32%

On average, each year women purchase 6 items in the wrong colour - with the average cost of each of these items being more than £12.

Brits spend 32 years on a diet

A new study has revealed that the average British adult spends 32 years of their life on a diet.

In a study commissioned by Del Monte Naturally Light, over 4,000 people were asked about their dieting habits. Three quarters of the adult population admitted they are unhappy about their weight and yo-yo dieted each and every year.

The average amount of time spent on a diet was 6.29 months of the year. Among the British population, just 1 in 4 people (24%) are perfectly happy with their current weight; only 4% think they need to gain weight.

Some 70% of people would like to lose weight, even if only a few pounds (46%) with a quarter of these (24%) feeling like they have a lot of weight to shift.

Men are slightly more content with their weight than women, however the research shows that a significant proportion of them also wish to slim down (64%) compared to 76% of women.

Nearly all of those questioned, (90%) have no idea how many calories are in a range of everyday foods and drinks; despite the figures being printed on packaging. And 7 out of 10 people in the UK do not know the recommended daily calorie intake for men and women. Dieters cited a love of food and a lack of willpower as the main reasons for struggling to keep to a diet.

“Diet fads come and go, but it seems that there is always a new way to get thinner, which is why it may come as no surprise that the average woman spends an alarming number of years on a diet,” explains nutritional therapist Juliette Grove. “By far the best diet is a sustained combination of healthy eating and exercise.”

The average British woman spends a staggering £38,400 on beauty products in a lifetime, says a new study.

The research by discount shopping site PromotionalCodes.org.uk shows just how much we are willing to pay to in order to get the perfect look.

On a daily basis, women use a range of make-up products including foundation, lipstick, blusher and mascara to the value of £85 on average. Many women also spend their money on luxury facials every month, costing around £25. With products being replaced every four months and the frequent use of facial treatments, this calculates to £640 per year and an amazing £38,400 during a lifetime.

Asked about the general pricing of make-up, 60% of women agreed that make-up is expensive but also said that this wouldn’t stop them from buying products. Over two thirds (67%) agreed that when they find a brand they like, they stick to it and do not try cheaper alternatives.

A spokesperson for PromotionalCodes.org.uk commented: "It is amazing to break down all the costs and see how much women actually spend on make-up ever year. For a lot of women, spending money on cosmetics has become second nature to them."
